#InvolveMen Seminar on Men and Gender Equality
Date: 19 11 2019
Time: 14:00 - 17:30
Venue: House of Cities, Municipalities and Regions, square de Meeûs 1, Meeting room first floor, 1000 Brussels
The Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR), the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) and the Association of Basque Municipalities (EUDEL) are delighted to invite you to a seminar on men and gender equality that will explore initiatives aimed at involving boys and men to challenge and transform restrictive male norms.
What are the main areas of intervention to promote changes concerning men and boys which can contribute to gender equality goals? What can local and regional governments (LRGs) and national associations of LRGs do to raise awareness and increase gender equality by targeting men and boys? How to involve public officials as change agents in their workplace? In relationships with the users of public services? In service delivery?
This event, organised in the framework of CEMR’s gender equality action plan, will address these questions in order to fuel a wider strategic approach to gender equality policies. A selection of good practices from local and regional governments and their representative associations will be presented to demonstrate the positive impact of engaging men in gender equality work. During the small group discussions, gaps and policy needs will be identified with participants and subsequently addressed by the panel of experts.
