Please complete this form if you are interested in organising and running an ISLE Online Forum session. The deadline for submissions is
1st December 2024. Submissions will be reviewed by members of the ISLE Committee.
Unfortunately we won't be able to accommodate all proposals or respond to all proposals.
If we decide to accept your proposal, we will let you know within 3 weeks of the deadline. We will confirm with you then if you would like to go ahead, and we will find a mutually convenient date in 2025 for the event.
ISLE Online Forum sessions take place on Zoom for around 1 hour. Each session has a Chair who is responsible for organising the session with the invited speakers and hosting it.
Propose a topic that would be of interest to ISLE members and suggest who would be the invited speakers (max. 3). Typical formats for these sessions are (i) to ask the speakers deliver short talks (max. 10 minutes) which would be followed by a roundtable-style Q&A, or (ii) to have no talks, but make the whole session a roundtable discussion. However, you are welcome to suggest an alternative format.
As a reminder, the aim of ISLE is to "promote the study of the English language, that is, the study of the structure and history of standard and non-standard varieties of English, in terms of both form and function, at an international level".
Please note that the Chair and speakers all take part on a voluntary basis.
