Nominations may be submitted by fellow teachers, administrators, or other school staff members who have worked closely with the candidate and can attest to their dedication, effectiveness, and impact on the assessment process within a school. Nominations often include specific examples or anecdotes showcasing the nominee's contributions to the improvement of assessment practices, their support for colleagues in navigating assessment procedures, and their commitment to ensuring best practices in the school environment.

After the nomination period closes, a selection committee comprised of members of the KAAC Board of Directors, reviews the nominations and evaluates each candidate based on criteria such as leadership, innovation, collaboration, and impact.

Once the selection committee has carefully assessed all nominations, they deliberate to determine the most deserving candidate for the BAC of the Year award. The chosen recipient will be announced at the 2024 Scott Trimble Conference in October.
