Best Practices for AI Journalism - Suggestions
The Skynet Today team are working on a piece called "Best Practices for AI Journalism". The idea is that we will write a short list of recommendations for how to report on AI accurately and responsibly.
We'd like to crowdsource suggestions from AI researchers on what you think are the top DOs and DON'Ts for media reporting on AI - especially AI research.
In particular, we'd like to collect suggestions that are AI-specific (e.g., don't confuse narrow and general AI, don't anthropomorphize unnecessarily). We want to focus on positive practices (e.g., do clearly explain the scope of the task and the evaluation metrics) as much as negative ones.
Our aim is to highlight issues that may not be obvious to non AI researchers. The intent is not to tell journalists how to do their job, but rather to provide our perspective on how our research is covered.
We request your name to filter out any spam, but do not plan to quote or name anyone in the final article.
