- In an effort to be part of a global solution, TIFF is making a five-year commitment to grow our Talent Development programmes to increase participation, skills, and opportunities for women behind and in front of the camera.- The Share Her Journey campaign aims to raise $3 million over the next five years.- Funds raised will be directed towards TIFF’s existing Talent Development programmes and providing new opportunities for talented screen professionals.
What sort of industry opportunities will TIFF be offering?
Activity is dependent upon the amount raised. It will pivot around three areas — business, connections, and tailored professional development — to advance the knowledge, storytelling ability, skills, and networks of talented female practitioners. Our activities will include broad, inclusive conversations for all levels of industry experience, and bespoke opportunities for recognized emerging filmmakers and producers. Media literacy resources will also be provided.
What is a recognized emerging filmmaker?
An emerging filmmaker is at an early stage in their career. They may have made a feature or several short films and are starting to gain traction internationally. This might be through online or television work with significant audience views outside Canada; acclaimed commercials; shorts or debut features that have been selected for a major film festival (like Cannes, Sundance, Venice, TIFF, Berlin, etc.); a feature project that has been developed through a leading script lab (like Torino or Sundance); or a feature film that has gained momentum through box-office or international sales.
