Volunteer Sign-up Form 2024 Cob Shed Plastering

Join Mud Girl Collective member Clare Kenny and the Still Moon team for a shift during this exciting 4-day long artistic and community labour extravaganza! We will work together to creatively envelop the Cob Shed with a protective layer of plaster, adding clay gargoyles and nature-figurines to guard the rafters of the building structure, and adding decorative patterns as we work.

Shifts are 4 hours each, with lunch served either at the beginning or end of your shift. You're always welcome to stay longer and keep working, or to stop when you've reached capacity.

About the Cob Garden Shed

Last summer, with the help of natural building expert and Mud Girl Clare Kenny, our Still Moon staff, community members and dedicated volunteers came together to build a Garden Shed from Cob! We mixed clay, straw and sand to build up a beautiful shed as onsite storage for the Colour Me Local Dye Garden and the public events that we host there.

This 2024 spring season, join us for the decorative next steps! We're plastering the building with minerals and pigments grown in our dye garden. Join us for a shift during this 4-day pastering extravaganza, enjoy some vegan chili, roll up your sleeves and prepare to unleash your creativity on the walls of our community-built structure.

  • There is free curb-side parking in the neighbourhood.
  • Washrooms are not available onsite, but can be found at the Renfrew Community Centre located 10 minutes away (~1 kilometer)
  • There are limited benches available for seating.
  • We will have potable drinking water on site.
  • Please contact Ada by email at ada@stillmoonarts or by phone at (604)710-2375 if you have accessibility questions.

Getting There

  • The Colour Me Local Dye Garden can be found using Google Maps.
  • The closest bus stop is NB Boyd Diversion @ E 22 Ave and there is free parking in the neighbourhood. Limited street parking is available.
  • We recommend walking, riding your bike, or carpooling when possible.
