We, the undersigned residents and community members of Westminster and Garden Grove, call on our City Councils to adopt an ordinance prohibiting the Communist Government of Vietnam — and any entities acting on its behalf — from renting, purchasing, or leasing property owned or operated by the Cities.
Our communities are the heart of Little Saigon, the largest Vietnamese community outside of Vietnam. Many of our families came here after fleeing the communist regime following the fall of Saigon in 1975.
Little Saigon stands as a symbol of freedom. Allowing the Communist Government of Vietnam to establish a presence on city-owned property would dishonor the sacrifices of those who fled that regime.
We urge the Westminster and Garden Grove City Councils to place this ordinance on the agenda and adopt it without delay.
