This is a free program for youth, ages 5-16, to learn basic fishing skills of casting, knot tying, regulations, and fishing ethics. Kids then apply those skills at Hawk Island Park, Lansing, with the assistance of trained volunteers.
Dates for 2017 Dr. Bill Earl Youth Fishing Events are Saturday, May 6th, Saturday, May 13th, and Saturday, May 20th.
Pre-registration for the event is required. Check-in will begin at 8:30am and the program runs from 9:00am to Noon each day. A responsible adult must remain on-site with each youth participant.
For returning participants, please bring along your tackle and fishing rod. For new participants, we provide fishing rods, reels, tackle, and bait. Bottled water and snacks will also be available. Bring a small cooler if you wish to keep fish.
Please fill out and submit a separate application for each youth participant. You will be contacted shortly by one of our committee members regarding additional paperwork that needs to be completed prior to the event. Thanks, and we look forward to catching some fish with you!
