Insight Magazine Application (2018-2019)
Thank you for your interest in joining Insight Magazine's editorial team. We are the School of Economics' biannual magazine, entirely produced by students. Our magazine is read not only by Edinburgh economics students, but also academic staff and students outside of the subject and the University. All offer-holders are sent a copy, too.

We have the following roles available, all of which require extreme attention to detail! Please note that selected applicants serve as editors for both academic terms in 2018-2019.

Editor:
This team of approximately 6 is responsible for supporting writers in producing tight, coherent articles and ensuring that everything is of print quality. Each editor works directly with 2-3 writers per term. Editors also decide which proposals are successful. Applicants should have strong written English and enjoy working with others. All candidates for the editorial role is expected to submit an edited version of the excerpt found below.

Production Assistant:
The position's responsibilities include work with graphics, compilation in Adobe InDesign and the occasional manipulation of images.

Head of Production:
This position has responsibility for the compilation of the issue, planning layout, producing the front cover and all things visual. Relevant previous experience is essential, as is knowledge of Adobe InDesign. (The UCreate lab in the library has copies of this)

Editor-in-Chief:
This position is responsible for the overall management of the magazine before, during and after the production process. This includes advertisement, recruitment, liaising with the School of Economics and the Economics Society, final copy-editing, article consistency and distribution among various other tasks and responsibilities. Experience in a people-management role is essential. Previous magazine experience is desirable though not strictly necessary.
