DONATION OFFERS TO SHARE WITH THE COOPER RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY THE FIRE JUNE 2025

Dear Community Member,

Thank you for your interest in supporting the fire victims at The Cooper apartment complex located in Fort Worth's Near Southside on W. Rosedale. As you know, a historic 6-alarm fire broke out in the building on Monday, June 23 and burned for many hours as a heroic effort was underway by the Fort Worth Fire Department to bring the fire under control. The damage is extensive. More than 850 residents are now displaced.

MANY RESIDENTS ARE STILL DISPLACED, HAVE NO ACCESS TO THEIR PERSONAL BELONGINGS, AND HAVE LOST EVERYTHING WHILE FACING SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL IMPACT.

THE SITUATION IS DIRE.

THIS FORM IS WHERE NON-MONETARY DONATIONS OF SERVICES OR SPECIAL OFFERS CAN BE SHARED.

While many have generously donated money, we are also hearing from other businesses and community members who would like to donate special offers or services to the fire victims. Free meals at local businesses, free memberships to gyms or coworking spaces, and offers of discounted or complimentary services to those in need are also helpful at this time. If your business would like to extend an offer to the residents of The Cooper, we encourage you to fill out this form with all of those details.

RESIDENTS ARE SEEKING:

- FURNITURE IN NEW OR GOOD CONDITION

- HOME GOODS IN NEW OR VERY GOOD USED CONDITION such as small appliances and cookware

- GIFT CARDS

- BRAND NEW AIR MATTRESSES (many are still sleeping on the floor)

- FREE MEALS (because they have no kitchen, no food storage, no ability to cook, money is tight and eating out is draining their financial capacity)

- BABY ITEMS SUCH AS BOUNCERS, SWINGS, ETC.

PLEASE DO NOT DONATE USED CLOTHES. During moments of crisis, fire victims may have limited storage and very specific needs. Clothing items can be incredibly difficult to match to the specific need or size of a fire victim, and often donated items that were not needed are underutilized or discarded. Also digging through piles of used clothes does not provide the dignity that these vulnerable people deserve in their time of need. Instead, we ask that you consider donating a GIFT CARD to any fire victim in need of clothing.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND AN OFFER FOR A DONATED OR DISCOUNTED SERVICE OR PRODUCT THAT CAN BE CLAIMED AT YOUR BUSINESS, PLEASE USE THE ATTACHED FORM. Your offer will be published in a database that victims of the fire can browse. Victims will be encouraged to contact you directly to claim the offer that you have extended. Please note, there are 800+ residents impacted by the fire. If you would like to limit your offer to only a certain number of residents, please make sure to note that in the form. Then, once your offer has been fully claimed please contact megan@nearsouthside.org to request that your offer be removed from the list so that you do not continue to feel need beyond what you have offered.
