β‘οΈStaffing steerβ¬
οΈ
The aim for this event is to staff 2 crews* and a stats crew.
*The 2 crews will be fluid "super-crews", whether that means it consists of a greater number of members than needed for 1 single game, or if it means building half-crews that mix and match with one another. Officials will remain with the same crew of people throughout the weekend, but possibly switching positions for different games.
This event will offer a number of different game types/levels, and so along with this staffing style there will be opportunities for all officials to learn, mentor, grow, develop, and/or lead! This also allows officials to get more games per day than having 3 separate crews.
We will be utilizing CRG Penalty tracking. So those interested in learning, as well as those looking to brush up on it for post-season, are encouraged to apply!
Stats Crew: You'll notice some choices in the following questions regarding Stats positions. There is a growing trend of STATS being an included member in crews and/or an additional committee during multi-day events & tournaments that one can apply for. This position would include reconciling paperwork and entering electronic stats on-site (possibly even live-during the game, pending the crew's comfort), and working with THs/CHs/GTO in providing feedback. It provides great experience in learning/reviewing the paperwork and knowing common issues to look for & correct (either as an official, skater, coach, or event volunteer). You do not need to be an official for this position, but must understand officiating (or be looking to learn about it). This provides crews with instant feedback to improve game flow and completion of paperwork, and gives teams instant stats to review asap. The Stats crew would ideally be their own dedicated group, but you can also offer your skills during any down time you may have if you are also staffed in another position.
