This document should help you organize, track, and reflect on your learning throughout the week. As mentioned, you are expected to engage with each of the four categories (academic, physical and mental health, creativity, and social connection) for one hour every day. You may be able to do multiple options at once (going for a run while listening to a Podcast or watching a documentary with people in your house). This document, or a photograph of a hand-written log, should be emailed to me at the end of each week –
For each day of the week, write a short summary of what you did for each learning category. Each week should include activities that apply reading, writing, listening, and numeracy (math). If you’re having a hard time recording the information, think of summarizing your learning with Who, What, Where, When, Why, How, and So What (Significance).
Monday (Example)
Academics
Today I spent 2 hours reading “The Secret Wisdom of Nature” by Peter Wohlleben. I am fascinated by the amazing amount of connection that there is in nature. We can learn so much if we slow down and listen to nature. There is such a fine balance, as we are not doing a great job of balancing our need to grow with the importance of respecting the delicate balance of nature. Perhaps we can reverse the mistakes we have made and regain that balance.
Physical and Mental Health
After waking up at 8:00 am and getting a solid 9 hours of sleep,I made breakfast with my kids and had my morning coffee, before my group chat with Casey, Vicky, Lacey and Trevor. At around 4 Brew and I ran up to heart lake...LUNG BURNER. I always find a good run clears my head and settles my thoughts. Before bed, I did 30-minutes of yoga with the DownDog app (this is FREE yoga app).
Creativity
I managed to get creative this afternoon by doing some drawing with my kids. We followed two different ART FOR HUB KIDS. We also challenged some of our friends to do the drawings and share them with us.
Social Connection
Today was a good day for connecting. It’s been hard to connect with friends, even though we’re supposed to be social distancing. We should call it physical distancing and still have people trying to socially connect. After my coffee, I had a team meeting with Trevor, Lacey, Vicky and Casey online, though it would be much nicer to see them in person, it was great to chat online.
