Terms of Participation

1)  All runners/teams are responsible for undertaking their own navigation, prior research and must make their own travel arrangements to and from each baton handover.

2) All participants will be provided with a wristband, to be collected by team managers prior to the start of the event. The baton can only be carried by a team member with a visible wristband.

3) All team members must be over 20 years old.

4) All runners are expected to take personal responsibility for their choice of route. Ensuring that they do not trespass or lead themselves into potential hazardous situations risking injury. 

5) In the event of any of the team runners getting lost or injured, it is the responsibility of the team  captains to organise assistance within their team and communicate with race HQ to seek further assistance if necessary. 

6) With the very nature of the event being run over a varied course in remote terrain , it is impractical for the organisers to provide immediate full first aid cover. Team members are expected to carry basic first aid supplies. If first aid assistance cannot be provided by another team member, a nearby marshal, or a member or supporter of another team. It is the responsibility of the team  captains to communicate with race HQ to seek further assistance if necessary. In extreme cases contact emergency services directly.

7) The organisers will not be providing water along the route. It is each team’s responsibility to make appropriate arrangements for their runners. Please ensure runners take enough water/snacks to support them between handovers.

8) By entering the Black Mountain Relay, you agree that the organisers may publish personal information as part of the results of the event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, licenses or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times, occupation and age category. This applies to all members of the team.

9) All competitors take part on the express understanding that the organisers accept no responsibility for any loss or injury however caused.

Team Captain Note

You will be contacted to submit your final team names on the 22nd August.

The start location, checkpoints, and confirmation of finish will be sent out on receipt of team list. The proposed geo points will be approximate and not go live until the day of the event. You will be able to plan your proposed route and tactical change overs.

WhatsApp Groups will be set up with 'Race control' Team captains are responsible for adding their team members to their sub group. 

The 'adverse weather route' will be sent out with this information. You will be notified of the decision to switch to this route as soon as a decision is made because of forecast weather.

The tracker (Baton) can be viewed on any device with access to a web browser. Constant viewing may use excessive data.
