Heights High School PTO Board Nomination Form

Please complete the nomination form below for HHS PTO Board officers for the 2025-2026 school year.

Nominations will close March 8, 2025. The officer slate will be publicized 7 days prior to the April PTO General meeting, and the officer slate will be presented and voted upon by the PTO membership at that meeting.

Only persons who have been contacted prior to nomination and given their consent may be nominated or elected for office, either by the nominating committee or by nomination from the floor. Persons are eligible to be nominated from the floor only if they notify the Parliamentarian in writing of the intent to nominate from the floor at least seven days before the Election Meeting.

Nominating Committee: LaTrice Ferguson, Aimee Flood, and Jenna Taylor

Open Executive Board positions:

  • President:  Prepares agenda for and presides at all meetings of PTO and Executive Board; conducts business of PTO including contracting; coordinates work of officers and committees of PTO; signs checks on PTO bank account; appoints various positions; represents PTO to public; works with school to set PTO calendar.
  • Treasurer: Maintain bank account; pay bills and reimbursements as needed; update and present a written monthly report of the budget.

  • Vice-President, Fundraising: Manage and communicate with the chairs of standing/special committees regarding fundraising. 

  • Vice-President, Community Building: Manage and communicate with the chairs of standing/special committees regarding community building.

  • Secretary: Attends Executive Board meetings; works with Executive Board to develop overall goals and strategies and budget; records and reports minutes of PTO and Executive Board meetings; keeps record of attendance at PTO and Executive Board meetings; is responsible for PTO correspondence; maintains PTO documents.

  • Class of 2029 Chair: Work with grade 2029 student officers and school administrators in planning grade level activities, celebrations, and fundraisers; help build community and share information between 2029 parents, students, PTO, and HHS.

Open chair positions:
  • Teacher Appreciation Chair:   Coordinates with school to provide items or activities at mutually convenient times to show appreciation to teachers and staff

  • Teacher Grants Chair: Distributes and collects grant applications from staff and school organizations; reviews applications and makes recommendations to Executive Board; works with Treasurer and grant recipients to fulfill grants.

  • SLL Valentine's Party Chair:  Organizes holiday party with pizza, music, and dancing for students in Life Skills program at Heights High School.

  • Advocacy Chair: Updates PTO board and members about current legislation and issues impacting HISD and education in Texas.

  • Merchandise Chair: Lead the purchasing and sales of HHS merchandise online and in the school store.

  • Spirit Events Chair: Coordinates partnerships with area businesses to raise funds for HHS.

  • Newsletter Chair:  Creates and sends out weekly PTO e-newsletter; maintains PTO newsletter subscriptions.

  • Spanish Chair: Assists other communication chairs by translating information into Spanish; manages volunteer translators; arranges for translation at PTO meetings.

  • Senior Scholarships Chair: Work with HHS staff to facilitate the annual scholarship program. Scholarship chair cannot have a HHS senior.

  • Senior Scholarship Committee Member (3 openings): Assist in selecting annual scholarship award program winners. Scholarship committee members cannot have a HHS senior.

Board candidates should be people that can fulfill the essential agreements for our PTO Board:

  • Focus on Purpose: to promote understanding, cooperation, communication, and support among parents, teachers, administrators, and community members in order to provide the best possible education for all students attending Heights High School.
  • Attend required meetings, be an active participant, and respect other points of view.
