Terms and Conditions
PLEASE READ ~ Independent Study Contracts may be referred to as "contract(s)" or "ISC"

1). Contracts are issued for a minimum of five (5) days for those students enrolled in the Chawanakee Unified School District.

2). Contracts are issued for a minimum of three (3) days for Charter School students.

3). Students may not exceed more than ten (10) school days on an Independent Study Contract, in any given school year.

4). No Independent Study Contracts shall be granted for the following times:
** First four (4) weeks, or the last four (4) weeks, of the school year
** First two (2) weeks, or the last two (2) weeks of a semester

5). The parent MUST either come to the office 2-3 days prior to the contract start date, to confirm the contract dates, and sign the Independent Study Contract verification page, or sign a digital copy and return it to the Independent Study Coordinator a minimum of five days prior to the start of the contract.

6). The student MUST come to the office the day before the contract start date to sign the contract, and pick up their Independent Study course work.

7). If the contract is not signed prior to the contract start date, work will NOT be given, and the contract will be void.

8). A three ring binder will be provided to the student, and will contain the required ISC work, INCLUDING descriptions of any required online coursework. The course assignments contained in the binder are NOT to be written on. Students will write assignments on either the "logs", "journals" provided, or white lined paper (not provided). Any online work assigned must be submitted on time to receive full credit.

9). Contracts, binders, course materials, and ALL completed assignments, MUST be turned in to the Office upon return (the next school day following the end of the contract). Any online assignments must be submitted to the student's teacher via Powerschool, AND must be printed out, and placed in the binder, in order to provide evidence of work completed. Failure to return binders, and course materials, in their original condition may result in replacement charges.

10). Failure to fulfill the ISC may result in a failing grade for the assigned work, and may count against the student's attendance record.

11). We have the right to refuse this request if certain requirements are not met.
