On February 23, 2022 we will hold a town hall meeting, inviting people from our communities to propose ideas and be in dialogue with our staff, board, and collaborators.

Timeline

Deadline for proposals is March 22, 2022.

Each application will be reviewed by a panel of Performance Space staff, board, strategy group, artists, and other community members. Five proposals will be selected and will be asked to submit the additional responses outlined above. After the additional responses are reviewed, three finalists will be notified in  May 2022. The finalists, who will be compensated for their time, will then be invited to present their proposal at our annual town hall in December 2022. At the town hall, the public will vote on the idea they would like to see implemented here at Performance Space starting in 2023.

Guidelines

Like all other Not-for-Profit Arts  organizations, we are required to operate within the limits of Section 501 of the Internal Revenue Code , and cannot engage in activities that would be outside of our official Statement of Purpose. Any proposals and ideas would therefore have to be able to fit within said Purpose.
 
Our Statement of Purpose reads as follows:
Performance Space New York  is organized and operated exclusively for educational and charitable purposes in accordance with Section· 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, including promoting the arts (including performance, visual and all other contemporary arts), fostering artistic development (including through direct grants), advancing diversity in the field of the performing, visual and contemporary arts, and broadening local
communities' and the public's understanding and appreciation of performance, visual and contemporary arts at large.
