Do you have an idea for an event or for programming that will engage and benefit the surrounding neighbourhood? The Wychwood Barns Community Association (WBCA) is now accepting applications for community-focused events to be held at and around the Artscape Wychwood Barns!
We are interested in hearing a wide range of creative, thoughtful ideas for programming that will use the Artscape Wychwood Barns, the Peter MacKendrick Gallery and adjacent park, and which will help to strengthen, build and engage the St. Clair West community.
In keeping with the WBCA mandate, priority will be given to applications for events which are designed to engage underserved groups in the community, and which are accessible and inclusive to all.
Events could include (but are not limited to): - educational events;- live speakers;- skills or training workshops;- festivals or fairs;- performances; - not-for-profit fundraisers.
Event must be not-for-profit: Events must not charge admission, or at minimum have a portion of the event that does not charge admission. Goods may be sold at the event, or a portion may be ticketed to cover costs, but events cannot be structured with the intent of making a profit. There must be at minimum a portion of your event that is free for the community.
Applicants must provide budget with Application: Applicants must provide an event budget as well as a thorough description of the proposed event as part of the grant application.
Grant for maximum 75% event costs: The WBCA grant will cover up to 75% of the event cost, up to a maximum of $2000.
Grant funds provided after event: The WBCA grant funds will be provided to the applicant, upon completion of the event and after presentation of receipts or invoices in respect of the event costs. WBCA has the right to withhold funding if the event differs from the grant application.
Use of grant funds:The WBCA grant funds can be used to cover costs for the venue, equipment rentals, speakers, food and beverage, staffing, etc.The event can be held in the any of the spaces in the Barns, the Peter MacKendrick Gallery or the park adjacent to the Barns.
Applicant responsible for all event organization, including:The Applicant is responsible for booking the event space (through Artscape Wychwood Barns for the Barns and the Peter MacKendrick Gallery, and through the City of Toronto for the park adjacent to the Barns);The Applicant is responsible for enquiring about and obtaining any permits and insurance that may be required.
Application timing: Grant application reviews will be conducted three times a year. Deadline to apply in each cycle is January 31, May 31 and September 30 of each year. Successful applicants will be contacted by the 20th of the month following the review period. Applications must be submitted to the WBCA at least 3 months before the event is intended to occur.
