GRCB BEATS is our in-school after school program. During BEATS youth create music electronically, write and perform original songs, record, create music videos and so much more! We are excited to extend our mission of empowering youth through music education and performance into local schools. You do not need to have any experience with electronic music to volunteer for this program.
We are seeking volunteers for three locations in Spring of 2019. If you are interested in volunteering for one or more of these sites, please complete this application below:
GRCB BEATS @ MCA: Thursdays 3:15-5:00, Mother Caroline Academy in Dorchester, March 14th- May 23rd 2019. 6th-8th grade girls.
GRCB BEATS @ The Healey School: Wednesdays 3:45-5:15, Healey School in Somerville, March 27th-May 29th. 3rd-5th grade girls.
GRCB BEATS @ BTU: Tuesdays 3:00-5:00, Boston Teachers Union School in Jamaica Plain, March 26th- June 4th. Youth age range TBD.
Youth who attend GRCB BEATS come from a wide range of economic experiences, ethnic identities, gender identities, & neighborhoods, and more than half self-identify as youth of color. We strive to create a volunteer base that reflects this diversity, and strongly encourage people of color, people who are gender non-binary and/or trans, and any folks who come from traditionally oppressed experiences to become volunteers and mentors for Girls Rock Campaign Boston. We ALL need role models.
