This 90-minute mid-day webinar will provide valuable and the latest information regarding EPA's 2019 Pharmaceutical Rule. The Air & Waste Management Association - New England Section (AWMA-NES) is pleased to provide a neutral forum for institutional, regulatory and private sector professionals to discuss current and future developments regarding key topics, policies, initiatives and programs that affect the air and waste management industries. AWMA-NES has organized an online, interactive webinar which will cover the key changes to this Rule. There will be a Q & A session after the formal presentations.
Join us on October 30, 2019 from Noon to 1:30 PM and hear from those in the forefront on this increasingly important issue. Environmental professionals in healthcare, pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution and consultants will benefit from learning how the new rules affect waste handling and disposal.
Following years of discussions and effort, in early 2019 EPA officially launched final hazardous waste rules specific to pharmaceuticals. The new rules, which amend and add to existing Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulations, set new standards specific to used, returned or discarded pharmaceuticals, both prescription and non-prescription. Affected parties include health care facilities, reverse distributors, and reverse logistics entities. The new standards include exemptions from certain elements of the traditional RCRA regulatory scheme as well as new requirements. Also included (and already in effect) is a nationwide ban on flushing hazardous waste pharmaceuticals down the drain. A further component of the regulatory package is regulatory relief for certain nicotine substances.
Backed by over 130 pages of Federal Register preamble, the final rules require particularly careful
review to understand whether, when, how and to whom they apply.
This 90-minute webinar includes presentations by distinguished EPA, legal and healthcare professionals:
Kristin Fitzgerald, EPA
Brian Knieser, EPA
Laura Stanley, EPA
Brian Freeman, Robinson & Cole
Robert Whitfield, Boston Medical Center
