Access, Resilience, and Sustainability: Pathways to Food Security in Pakistan | Registration Form
Date: 7 November 2025 (3–6 PM)
Venue: Lahore University of Management Sciences

The CNM Department of Economics at LUMS, the Mahbub Ul Haq Research Centre at LUMS, the Consortium for Development Policy Research (CDPR), and Rizq are collaborating to host a workshop on the state of food security in Pakistan, bringing together perspectives from research, policy, and practice.

Pakistan faces increasingly frequent food-related shocks — from climate-induced floods and heatwaves to price spikes and supply chain disruptions. These shocks expose the fragility of our food. The workshop will explore how Pakistan can build food systems that are resilient and sustainable, engaging with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on responsible production and consumption, and climate action.

The event convenes academics, students, policymakers, and practitioners to reflect on the state of food security in Pakistan and discuss collaborative pathways forward. These will include Dr. Sher Afghan Asad (LUMS), Amina Bajwa (Food and Agriculture Organization), Dr. Abid Burki (LUMS), Nisar Ahmed Sani (Provincial Disaster Management Authority), Taimur Malik (Drawdown Farm), Dr. Mahmood Ahmad (Rizq, LUMS), Faisal Hassan (Progressive Farmer), Muhammad Asim Javed (Punjab Food Authority), Dr. Maham Ashfaq (Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance) and Musa Aamir (Rizq).
