Student Wellbeing Advisory Board Application
The Student Wellbeing Advisory Board (S.W.A.B.)- a member of the Peer Health Ambassador Network- pursue solutions for individual and systemic wellbeing concerns facing students at UMass Amherst. Specifically, the Advisory Board seeks to:
- Support student access to quality health education and healthcare;
- Support student ability to make informed decisions about their lives by advocating for consistent community messaging;
- Advocate for relevant and timely University services and policies to address holistic wellbeing; and
- Collaborate with community leaders and campus stakeholders by serving on hiring committees and service boards across the University.
Serving on the Student Wellbeing Advisory Board is a volunteer commitment with credit opportunity. This program is best suited for any student interested in community-based public health promotion, peer education, advocacy, social justice education, or altruism generally. The expected time commitment for members is 3-4 hours per week. Students can expect to learn community organizing principles, public health theory, health communication strategies, community assessment and topic specific information.
