Dear Richland Parent, Guardian, Student, or Community Member,

We recognize that a safe learning environment is critical to help each child achieve academic success. The negative impact of bullying has been well publicized in the national news. We encourage you to discuss bullying and its negative impact with your child.

What is bullying?
Bullying is not a single act of unkindness. It contains 3 components:

• It is a repeated act.
• It is meant to hurt or humiliate another person.
• It involves an imbalance of power.  Bullies choose targets that they perceive are unable or unwilling to defend themselves.


Richland School District 88A is taking steps to ensure that your child is in a positive safe environment.  Below is an anonymous reporting tool to report incidents of bullying and school safety threats.  This is an additional medium to communicate with our school if a bullying or school safety incident occurs and they are uncomfortable reporting the incident directly to a staff member.  All information is kept confidential.
