Welcome to your first step toward the mission field. Going on a mission trip can be one of, if not, the most exciting experiences of a lifetime. It can hold one of the most rewarding experiences if you make the necessary preparations but can also be challenging and frustrating without those preparations. Embarking on such a journey requires a resolve to perform each step found in this manual.
Many changes are currently developing which change our approach logistically. Traveling today looks quite different than it did last year. Airlines and many countries have established new guidelines for entry and exit. Airports recognize travelers through modern technology now the moment you walk through their doors. Your choice to allow Hands on Missions to facilitate your mission experience is a wise decision.
Going to the mission field is a mandate given by our Lord found in Matthew 28:19-20. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (NKJV). Great Commission Christians learn quickly that God uses ordinary Christians to deliver the supernatural message of God’s redeeming love.
Be diligent in preparation. Attend all scheduled meetings. Turn in your assignments and acquire the necessary funding. You are not alone in this endeavor. Ask questions. Prayer and sharing your story of why you desire to be part of this mission trip will engage others to assist you in meeting your goals.
One of your greatest assets is our team at Hands on Missions. Our staff and ministry partners are available to you. Many Christians fail to do what you have already committed. You have taken the first step of faith. I cannot wait to see the things that God will do through you.
Grace and peace,
