Introduction to Earth Building and Adobe Immersion

This 5-day workshop covers many aspects of building with earth, with an in-depth focus on the Adobe Brick technique. It will empower participants to tackle their own building projects, from pizza ovens, to retrofits with natural materials and feature walls, to a full house build.
Learning time is divided up between classroom time and gaining hands-on experience in a range of techniques.
Topics covered are:
Sourcing and testing materials
Design for earthquakes and durability
Planning and consent process
Making and laying Adobe mud bricks
Earthen plasters and clay paints
Other earthbuilding techniques such as cob, wattle-and-daub and light earth infill (LEM)
Building a pizza oven
House tour or bonus surprise activity
The price includes lunch every day. We have limited availability for accommodation on site, so please book early if you would like to stay. Cost of accommodation is extra. Please check availability with us before making payment for accommodation
Terms and Conditions:
- Bookings on a first in, first served basis. We require payment in full to secure your booking.
- We require a min. of 6 participants to run this course and will cap it at 12 participants.
- We will confirm this course by 20 January 2021, so please check with us before booking travel.
- In the unlikely event that we have to cancel this workshop, we will of course give you a full refund.
- For cancellations made before 20 January 2021, we will retain a 20% processing fee, and refund you 80%.
- No refunds for cancellations after 20 January 2021 or No Shows

We have limited basic accommodation available on site. Please indicate your wishes below if you would like to camp. Please note that you will have to self-cater for breakfasts and dinners. If you wish to arrive the night before, there will be an extra charge of $40/55 for the houstruck/cabin. Don't pay for accommodation before we have confirmed it is available please.
