Speaker proposals for talks and workshops can be submitted until 30 April 2018 by completing the form below.
Prospective speakers are kindly asked to submit a proposal for a 30-minute talk or a 60-minute workshop. Speakers may only submit one proposal.
The conference will contain a strand organised in collaboration with the IATEFL Young Learners and Teenagers SIG. The strand's goal is to move beyond a 'catch all' approach to YL ELT and to foster age-appropriate pedagogy according to children's ages and life stages. If you're interested in speaking in this strand, please submit a proposal focused on one specific age range: Early Years (2-5 year olds) or Primary (6-10 year olds) or Lower Secondary (11-14 year olds) or Upper Secondary (15-17 year olds). If your proposal is considered age-appropriate, it will be included in this strand.
Prospective speakers need to indicate whether their session is a talk or workshop. A talk (30 minutes, including questions) tells delegates something about teaching or learning English. A workshop (60 minutes, including questions) is a session in which there is active audience participation via the tasks provided by the speaker.
Prospective speakers need to indicate whether they are speaking on behalf of a publisher or institution. Delegates are likely to be disappointed if a session they attended based on the description in the proposal turns out to be an advertisement for a publication, product, or course. The submission of speaker proposals for commercial presentations are welcomed but, if you are basing your session either in part or in full on newly or recently published material, you should clearly say this in your proposal.
The deadline for submission of proposals is 30 April 2018. Notification of acceptance/rejection of proposals will take place by 15 May 2018. Once you have been accepted to speak, you will receive a provisional acceptance email.
