The Africa Yoga Project Teacher Training Scholarship program is intended to provide training to students who are interested in becoming certified as yoga teachers. We are looking for people who want to achieve an education in yoga, empower their community, elevate their personal development and be employable in thee wellbeing industry.
The Africa Yoga Project Scholarship is open to African Nationals, currently living in Africa, age 18-35 years . Applicants will be considered based on five factors:1) Passion for yoga and willingness to teach free outreach classes in their community 2) Demonstrate financial need (unemployed or underemployed)3) Exhibit dedication to health, wellness, and education4) Willingness to create community with AYP teachers by living in their homes during STAY program5) Willingness to commit to 3 year part time academy program.
Conditions of Scholarship
After returning to their home communities, recipients of the scholarship must identify 2 populations that wouldn't normally have the opportunity/resources to practice yoga. As an exchange for this scholarship, the recipient commits to teaching yoga to these outreach classes once a week for 6 months. Examples of outreach locations: Youth Groups (football, girls's empowerment groups, arts groups), schools, orphanages. hospitals, jails and detention centers and HIV/AIDS support groups. Recipients will send weekly reports about their outreach activities and upon completion of 6 months of teaching will be eligible for admission in the Africa Yoga Project Academy.
Addition Information for Application
Applicants need to provide two letters of recommendation or referrals from their students members explaining why the teacher should qualify for this scholarship and how they have benefited from practicing yoga.
