DTEACh Professional Development Application 2014
The DTEACh Summer Institutes (BASIC and ADVANCED) introduce K-12 educators to design-based learning pedagogy and how it may be used to effectively contextualize and teach mathematics and science in the classroom. The professional development institutes engage educators about topics including engineering fundamentals, robotics and automation using LEGO MINDSTORMS technology, and the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenges of the 21st century. This year's institutes will take place on July 21-25 (BASIC) and July 28-August 1 (ADVANCED) from 9am-5pm on the UT campus. Basic PD is building construction, exploring automation & control, programming pedagogy for MINDSTORMS, and learning socially relevant curriculum development. Advanced PD builds upon the foundation established during the Basic PD and includes more in-depth exploration of engineering fundamentals. The fee for each institute is $450 , payable by district purchase order, check, money order, or credit card. We will provide payment instructions and other details once you have been accepted in the institute(s). Each participant will need a LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Education Base Set and an Education Resource Set. We can order these at a discount if you need them. If your application is accepted for the institute, then you will receive further details regarding the kits required.
