Call for Artists, Writers & Interns - Submit Your Assistant Story

Have you or has someone you know ever worked as an artist's assistant? Or have you ever worked in a similar relationship with a fellow professional further up the career ladder? What were your experiences? Did you ever drop a piece of work you were installing for a famous artist and quickly dust it down in the hope that no one noticed? Perhaps you secretly painted hidden messages into a work you were producing for someone? Did you intern for someone that made you look after their dogs while they went on holiday or maybe they took you to some wild or glamorous parties? How did you feel about the situation? Did you mind seeing your work being credited to someone else? Did you get paid?

If you are or have been an assistant we bet you have some interesting tales to tell and we'd love to hear them! Please submit your story, anecdote or image here, the selected entries will go up on the blog be put forward for inclusion in a publication that will accompany the Assistant exhibition at BEARSPACE gallery, London. You can be anonymous if you like, just try not to be defamatory! If in doubt, this website provides a neat summary of UK laws on defamation: http://www.urban75.org/info/libel.html - basically, if it's too juicy then don't name names!
