Are you a student who is looking to contribute to meaningful research and gain hands-on experience? The SIPGI (Social Institutions, Politics, and Integration of Refugees) research program at the University of Gothenburg is looking for dedicated volunteers to assist with a virtual reality field experiment during the Science Festival in Gothenburg.
About the Experiment
This exciting experiment aims to explore how seeing the world through the eyes of a refugee impacts empathy, attitudes, and behaviors toward Syrian refugees.
The study was replicated last year in Turkey and is scheduled to be replicated in Jordan later this year (2025).
Where? Nordstan, Gothenburg
When? April 1–6, 2025
Timeslots: Each day consists of three timeslots: 10:00–13:30; 13:30–16:30; and 16:30–20:00, or 10:00–12:30; 12:30–15:00 and 15:00–18:00, over the weekend.
You can sign up for multiple timeslots but must attend the full duration of each timeslot (including arriving 15 minutes earlier).
What’s in It for You?
As a volunteer, you will receive training and hands-on experience in conducting a social science field experiment; be acknowledged in future publications from the SIPGI project (upon your approval); earn a certificate of participation for your CV; get a 100 SEK voucher for lunch or coffee for each timeslot you attend; and most importantly you will contribute to research that could positively impact the lives of refugees and migrants in Sweden and beyond.
Ready to Join?
Sign up below to be part of this exciting field work and help make a difference. Together, we can drive research that fosters empathy and understanding across communities.
Last Day to Register: 14 March 2025
We look forward to working with you at the Science Festival!
