Take the Pledge for safe disposal of solid waste and recycling!

This coming year, we want to tackle some of the challenges in the commingled recycling. Below are some of the things we need your help on to clean up the stream.

* We accept the listed materials, but the system cannot accept the following due to the recycling markets at this time or it is not accepted at our Recycling Center:

1) Styrofoam of any kind;

2) Shredded Paper (please compost, use for shipping or throw away);

3) Plastic bags or plastic film of any kind;

4) Bagged materials, just toss all of your recycling materials in the container (Plastic Bags go to the landfill);

5) Batteries of any kind (see local drop-off sites--list on website- www.ahswd.org);

6) Scrap metal (please wait for collection days or take to local scrap yard);

7. Fabrics (many Thrift stores, schools and Passion Works take fabric for projects);

Good NEWS: Pizza boxes that are empty are acceptable!!!!

I pledge to place the accepted materials directly in the recycling containers loose and not inside a plastic bag (since all plastic bagged items are sent to the landfill)? *

I pledge to recycle the following *

PAPER: Letterhead, copy paper, non-glossy junk mail, envelopes.

MAGAZINES & CATALOGS: Glossy paper, glossy junk mail.

PAPERBOARD & CARDBOARD: Cereal boxes, cracker boxes, pop & beer cartons, paper towel rolls, paper egg cartons, paper grocery sacks, brown/manila envelopes.

NEWSPAPER & ADVERTISING INSERTS.

TIN & STEEL CANS & ALUMINUM SCRAP Pet food cans, fruit and vegetable cans, Aluminum foil pie pans which must be free of food. Labels need not be removed.

BEVERAGE CANS that are empty and rinsed.

PLASTIC: soda bottles, milk jugs, pop bottles, tubs and lids, shampoo and detergent bottles that are rinsed out.

GLASS: Rinse and remove caps. Labels need not be removed.

I pledge to help with the following: *

Attend the Household Hazardous Waste on July 16, 2022 at the Collection Event at Hocking College.

Take HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES to a collection or collection site (check list of locations for household batteries on AHSWD.org).

I plan to attend the Recyle Days in 2022.

I will take my gently used clothes, fabric and household goods and furniture to Thrift Stores

I understand that all materials can be mixed together not bagged together.

I will not recycle styrofoam or plastic film or bags in the Recycling Containers.

I will not to place my recycling in plastic bags but I will place them in the recycling containers loose

I will Refuse, Reuse, Repair and Reduce my household solid waste when possible.
