About the Pink Van Project:
While our core population is sex workers, we never turn anyone away for harm reduction supplies and basic needs. Volunteers should be comfortable having conversations and connection to houseless people, people who use drugs, and people who have experienced trauma. We’re not case managers or therapists, our goal is to provide consistent, non judgmental, outreach services. You should be cool helping an older houseless woman pick out a bra, kicking it on a curb with someone who is charging their phone, and shaking someone’s hand while you give them a meth pipe.
If this feels overwhelming or triggering for you that’s valid, but this may not be the right fit for you. Our approach to outreach is about building real trust over time, which means sometimes we have really slow days and sometimes it’s really busy. It’s important that folks who do outreach with us understand that showing up for 3 people is just as much part of the work as showing up for 30 people- and we’re there either way.

Social Media Support Volunteer:
- Making announcements as needed for outreach days
- Designing posts/ flyers for outreach
- Post graphics updates as needed
- This person needs to have an understanding of PDXSWRP brand and kinds of content we post, frameworks around sex work and liberation work (this position takes a lot of trust)
- We’re not looking for someone to overhaul or redesign the “brand”, it’s more upkeep and announcements
- Must attend monthly meetings
