Summit 2019 Call for Proposal

The 2018-2019 programming year marks YNPN Greater Bflo’s fifth anniversary as a volunteer-run chapter of YNPN National– a group which seeks to strengthen the Western New York social sector by serving as an inclusive and innovative resource for networking and professional development. In this time, our organization has seen tremendous growth, and we must plan for the future so we can expand opportunities and benefits to our members. Since 2013, YNPN Greater Bflo has connected with over 500 nonprofit professionals through workshops, networking events, coffee power hours, and our annual Summit.

The YNPN Greater Bflo Summit is an annual one-day professional development conference which attracts over 100 entry-level, intermediate, and advanced nonprofit professionals from Western New York. At our premiere event, we strengthen the nonprofit community by serving as an inclusive and innovative resource for networking, and growth that empowers young professionals.

YNPN Greater Bflo Summit 2019 will be held Friday, March 29, 2019 from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm at Buffalo State College. We anticipate approximately 120 nonprofit professionals and volunteers joining us for a day full of training, leadership development and networking.

Our theme this year is Sharing Our Stories: Exploring Diverse Voices and Achieving Your Goals. Each person and organization in our community has a story to share. We are looking for sessions that will expose attendees to a variety of “stories” and ideas which will lead them to plan for a successful future, while making diversity a priority in the sector.

Session proposal guidelines

Sessions will be allotted 75 minutes and are open to all attendees. We recommend using 60 minutes to present and 15 mins for Q&A. Presentations should be tailored for an audience ranging between 30-50 people and have educational and interactive presentation elements.

Topics requested by our members and the WNY community include: grant writing, how to climb the nonprofit ladder, asking for a raise/salary negotiation, resume building, and a CEO Q&A. Other topics for consideration include, but are not limited to, are equity, diversity, and inclusion; advocacy in the nonprofit sector; personal branding; joining a nonprofit board of directors; and volunteer management.
