Restoration of Roger Williams Park
Roger Williams Park Conservancy, RI Foundation, and Providence City Parks Department have collaborated to undertake significant investment in the restoration of several historic resources at Roger Williams Park, including the Betsy Williams Cottage, the Bandstand, the Seal House (pictured below), the Victorian Rose Garden, and the Temple to Music.
The Wedding Cake House
514 Broadway. Ambitious and complete interior and exterior restoration of the 1867 Kendrick-Prentice-Tirocchi House, a threatened Victorian gem by Dirt Palace, a women's art collective. The building will serve as living-space for their artist-in-residence program.
Dean Street Studios
344 Washington Street. Rehabilitation of the former Advent Apartments by the Women's Development Corporation, this project provides supportive housing units for disabled and formerly homeless individuals, as well as new clinical offices for the Kent Center for Human and Organizational Development.
Prospect Terrace
The College Hill Neighborhood Association and the Providence Parks Department partnered to revitalize Prospect Terrace. Updates include new benches, signage and a sitting wall, as well as a wheelchair-accessible pathway and leveled sidewalks.
Bannister House
93 Benevolent Street. Complete interior and exterior restoration of the 1854 College Hill residence associated with famed African-American artist Edward Mitchell Bannister and his wife, Christiana, who rented the house until 1899.
Pilgrim Lofts
19 Harrison Street. The conversion of a 19th century church in the West End into loft apartments by brothers Antonio and Federico Managio and Knight & Swan LLC preserves original architectural details while saving the building from vacancy and neglect.
