RSVP to Next Steps for AI: Getting Closer to Human Intelligence through Robots
Speaker: Brandon Rohrer, PhD (Facebook)
Abstract: AI can best humans in a few very specific tasks, like reading lips and playing Go, but it still has a long way to go to before it can compare with us on breadth and adaptability. Learning how to control physical robots doing complex tasks in new and complicated environments will force AI to bridge this gap. In this talk, we’ll take a closer look at the gap between AI and biological intelligence, defined both by how we measure performance and by the common assumptions baked into machine learning systems. We’ll also talk about how we get from here to there, including critical algorithmic research topics and benchmarks that can help focus our community's research efforts.
Date: Thursday, April 19
Time: 5:30 - 7:00 pm
Location: William James Hall, B1 (33 Kirkland St, Cambridge, MA 02138)
