Welcome to the Meriwether Lewis Elementary School PTO (MLS PTO), which is comprised of all parents, as well as the teachers, teachers’ assistants, guidance counselors and administrators of Meriwether Lewis School. The main objectives of the MLS PTO are: to promote quality education; to increase communication; to enhance the academic program and physical surroundings through fundraising and volunteer efforts; to seek for our students the highest possible standard of education; and to promote leadership and accountability in the school community. There are so many easy and fun ways to become part of your child’s education!

MLS Movie Night
Assist by selling food & beverage or monitoring children on the playgrounds – FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th. Mostly evening, some daytime commitment.

Fun Fair
Assist with planning, decorating, organizing games, serving food, distributing tickets and prizes – FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12th WITH PLANNING IN EARLY FALL. Both daytime and evening opportunities.

Kids' Market
Assist in coordinating a “market” where MLS students sell their handmade crafts/food items – FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7th. Both daytime and evening opportunities.

Scholastic Book Fair
Help decorate, set-up/take-down the annual Book Fair. Help students select books and serve as cashiers – FEBRUARY/MARCH WITH DATES TBD. Mostly daytime, with a few evening opportunities.

Help plan the 2019 MLS Talent Show – FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 8th. Both daytime and evening opportunities.

Assist the committee with a wide range of tasks, including solicitation of auction items, decorations, food & beverage, and marketing – EVENT WILL BE APRIL 25 OR 26, WITH PLANNING BEGINNING IN FALL OR WINTER. Daytime and evening/weekend opportunities.

Hospitality & Staff Appreciation
Help provide meals/snacks/expressions of appreciation to MLS faculty/staff on select workdays or special occasions – YEAR-ROUND. Daytime and evening/weekend opportunities.

Birthday Book Club
Help label new library books that are purchased in honor of children’s birthdays. Facilitate presentation of books to students – FEBRUARY/MARCH. Mostly daytime, possible evening.

Help clip and count box tops throughout the year – MOSTLY IN FEBRUARY/MARCH. Both daytime and evening/weekend opportunities.

Help with planting of annuals and maintaining seasonal planters and gardens; assist composting program garden and landscape maintenance – YEAR-ROUND. Both daytime and evening/weekend opportunities.
