Pre-K to Kinder Transition Book Program
In effort to build and strengthen supportive links between settings, preschool and the elementary, we are going to create the Pre-K to Kinder Transition Book Program. This program is for any child, 4 - 5 years old, entering Kindergarten the following school year. Every month a staff member within the elementary school; principal, nurse, janitor, kindergarten teacher, and/or secretary, will film themselves reading a book that is relevant to the children’s lives. During the COVID pandemic, the recording will be shown at all the Sublette County preschools, posted on the Early Childhood Educational Website, and be posted on the Early Childhood Liaison Facebook Page. This gives an opportunity to reach all children in our community. Each month every child will receive the book that was read by the elementary staff member. The Early Childhood Community Liaison will deliver them to the preschools and the families not part of a local preschool may pick them up at the Sublette County School District #1 Administration building. We will start this program in October and go through May. At the end of the 2020-2021 school year, each child entering into Kindergarten should have received 8 books. The program will be available in Spanish along with the books too. This program is a great way to plan ahead for the transition from preschool to elementary school by meeting key people that the children and families will see the following year in Kindergarten. DEADLINE: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25
