Request for a Free Mobile Internet Hotspot for Fall Semester 2020
******* This is a survey for the students in the Lancaster County School District only. *******
Under Act 142, the Office of Regulatory Staff (ORS), in consultation with the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) and the Commission on Higher Education will be funding free mobile internet hotspot services through December 2020, for qualifying students. Only one hotspot per address is allowable. Since only one hotspot will be provided per household, only one child needs to be registered. However, please list the names of all other children living in the home.
Eligibility for a free mobile internet hotspot is as follows:
1. At least one child in the home must be enrolled as a student in the Lancaster County School District.
2. Permanent internet access is not already available at the residence where children complete school work. (Cellular phone hotspots are not considered permanent.)
3. The gross household income must be at or below the income levels in the chart below. (Must be able to show proof of income, if requested.)
Households with an income at or below 250 percent of the 2020 federal poverty level are eligible (see chart below). Household-Family Size refers to all individuals living in the home. Annual is the amount of money all in the household earn/receive in a year:
