Welcome to the HYOC Summer OPERAtunities 2022 Program.

The Hawai`i Youth Opera Chorus' summer intensive youth opera / theater program.  In collaboration with the Hawai`i Opera Theatre Education Program.

Program Dates:  June 13 - July 1, 2022

Program Times and Days:  Afternoons from 1:00 - 5:00 PM, HST -  Monday to Friday.  

Open to:  Grades: 5 through graduating Seniors.

Classes will be held in person experience.  

Program Cost:  $350.00 . Due in full by June 13, 2022 - processing fee & payment plan fees apply.  If you are in need of financial assistance please contact our office info@hyoc.org

What does Program Include?  Instruction in Stage Craft, Drama, Vocal Technique, Movement, Dance, Musicianship, Audition skills, creation of props and costumes.   Classes held IN Person (assuming we don't have another COVID surge and are under restrictions again.)  

The Opera presented will be adapting the music and story of Mozart's "the Magic Flute" but told through stories from Hawaii.  Students will perform ALL roles and participate in ensemble and solo work.  We will "follow the call of the Hawaiian nose flute, as we visit special places and stories in Hawaii".

It is very important that ALL Students commit to the full 3 week daily experience.  This is a very intense program and there is a lot to accomplish in 3 very short weeks.  Missing even an hour puts a student behind.  Make sure to adjust your schedules to allow your FULL participation.

There will be 2 performances.  Performance location to be announced.



Please complete and submit your information as soon as possible, but no later than June 5, 2022.


Full program fees will be due on June 13th, the first day of the program.  

If you are in need of a payment plan or scholarship consideration please contact our offices.  All financial considerations will need to complete the Financial Aid Application available by request from our office.  Keep in mind scholarship assistance if any is based on sufficient grant support received to support this program.  Scholarship assistance cannot be guaranteed until the start of the program.

This program is being offered subject to enrollment.  If minimum enrollment numbers are not met (25 students), your deposit of $75.00 will be returned but not the initial $10.00 application / audition fee.

We commit and agree to support our Child's involvement in this intensive summer program.  We also further understand and commit to the financial obligations to my child's participation.  We agree to paying on time and fully.  We will support out child by making sure they arrive at all rehearsals on time.  I further commit to supporting this program through volunteering my time for the production of the performances (as schedule allows) as requested and needed.
