The primary responsibility of the care taker is to administer medications accurately and
on time according to the MAR’s. It is extremely important that the MAR’s are filled out
correctly! It is the responsibility of the care taker to inform either the pharmacy or the
administrator if medications are getting low and need to be reordered. It will be
important for the care taker to keep clear communication between the pharmacy and
administrator and/or assistant administrator.
In addition to medication administration the care taker will be responsible for providing
three balanced/healthy meals per day. It will also be your responsibility to offer snacks
to the residents between meal times on a daily basis. We provide a basic menu that
care takers can follow for preparing meals, but we always welcome new
suggestions/ideas for different types of food. Drinks will also be provided during meals
and through-out the day/night. It will also be the responsibility of the care takers to
make sure that any food getting close to expiring will be disposed of immediately. The
care taker will be responsible for ordering needed groceries/items needed for the house
while staying within a budget.
Finally, the care take will be responsible for managing the house hold duties. These
duties include cleaning the house (especially the kitchen and bathrooms), assisting the
residents with cleaning their rooms, cleaning common areas, laundry and occasional
outdoor duties.
It is also the duty of the care taker as well as the administrator to make
sure all residents are following the house rules and not disturbing other residents. We
want our care takers to make the house feel like a home to our residents and we want
our residents to feel comfortable coming to staff for anything they need.
There must be an approved care taker onsite at all times! If an emergency comes up the
care taker should contact the administrator immediately, so they can be relieved of
duty.
