Cleaning:
This role is our biggest need at the rescue. We have volunteers who come by daily to care for the cats. The cleaning includes giving fresh food/water, scooping litter boxes, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes, and doing laundry. You will also stock food and litter in each room. You get to spend time with cats and kittens while also making a difference by helping keep their environment clean. We need cleaning volunteers everyday of the week, but especially on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when we are open for adoptions. Shifts are on average 2 hours long.
Storefront/Adoptions:
This role would be responsible for greeting guests, accepting donations, taking information down for owner surrenders, and doing adoptions. It does take a little more training (at least two shadow shifts) to feel comfortable with all the information. We are open Friday 11am-3pm, Saturday 11am-4pm, and Sunday 12-4pm. Ideally, one person would work the entire shift but you schedule yourself for shifts. Having a store front buddy makes the shifts more fun too!
Medicating Cats:
We have cats that get treated for upper respiratory infections, ringworm, ear mites, etc. Medications are given orally with a syringe, orally by a pill, topically with cream, or with drops. Volunteers who are trained in giving cat’s medicine are so important. They help the sick cats get healthy and ready for adoption. We help train you and make sure you are comfortable administering medications.
In order to stay a current volunteer, we ask that you volunteer at least 4 hours a month. Children 12-15 years old are welcome to volunteer with a parent. 16 years and up can volunteer without a parent present.
