Fort Road Community Garden Agreement and Registration 2020

Fort Road Community Gardener Agreement

Rules, Terms, and Conditions for Participation in 2020

Introduction
The Fort Road Community Garden Coordinating Committee is the highest governing authority at the Fort Road Community Garden. Breaking any rules, terms, and conditions is cause for exclusion from the garden and loss of your plot.

Rules, Terms, and Conditions for Participation
If accepted as a gardener, I will abide by the following rules, terms, and conditions:

I use this garden at the sole discretion of Fort Road Community Garden and Fort Road Federation. I agree to abide by its policies and practices.

The fee for the use of the garden is $35.00 per plot, per year, due on or before March 30, 2019. There are no refunds.

Once I have been assigned a plot, I will cultivate and plant it by June 1, 2019. My plot cannot be left fallow or unused for any period of three weeks or longer during the growing season. Gardeners will have plots cleaned and cleared by Nov. 15th.

My plot is (12 x 12) feet. I will not expand my plot beyond this measurement or into paths or other plots. I will keep all my plants within the limits of my garden plot. I must keep my plot free of weeds, pests and diseases. Each plot has one small, numbered area along the northern fence.

Compost is available at Ramsey County’s yard waste site, Summit Hill, 870 Pleasant Avenue; they also accept leaves, grass, garden waste, and organic waste. It’s less than a mile from the community garden.

I will keep my plot, paths, and surrounding areas clean and neat. Anything I bring from my home I will take back home. I will not bring household trash and leave it at the Fort Road Community Garden.

I will have no more than one plot in the Fort Road Community Gardener. If I adopt an abandoned plot during the season, I will be happy to relinquish it the following year.

I will not plant any illegal plant. I will not smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, use illegal
drugs, or gamble in the garden. I will not come to the garden while under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. I will not bring weapons or pets or other animals into the garden plot area.

Guests and visitors, including children, may enter the garden. They must follow all rules, terms, and conditions stated here. I will supervise all children at all times when they are in the garden. I am solely responsible for the behavior of my guests.

I understand that each gardener is responsible for mowing the grass one week during the year. I must complete the mowing during the week I am assigned. I will follow the posted instructions for the mower and for the weed whipper.

I will water my plot according to water-wise guidelines.

I will make every effort to attend regular garden meetings.

I will not apply any non-organic pesticides or fertilizers in the garden without the approval of the Garden Coordinating Committee.

I will not take food or plants from other gardeners’ plots. I will not take anything from the garden that is not rightfully mine.

I will respect other gardeners, and I will not use abusive or profane language or discriminate against others.

I will work to keep the garden a happy, secure, and enjoyable place where all participants can garden and socialize peacefully in a neighborly manner.

I forfeit my rights to sue the owner of the property or West Seventh/Fort Road Federation.

If there is a rule violation, you will receive one verbal warning from the Garden Coordinating Committee. If no response or correction has been made, you will receive written notice two weeks later.

If no response or correction has been made after a month following the written notice, you will receive written final notification that you have forfeited your gardening privileges and plot.

You will be allowed to reapply for another garden plot only after one year, at the discretion of the Garden Coordinating Committee.

If you are not reapplying to rent your plot for the next year you must remove your garden structures or make arrangements to leave them with another gardener.

Sun flowers, corn stocks and other large stocks must be taken to the Ramsey County Compost
by the gardener.

No trees or shrubs in garden plots.
Commitment
I have read and understand the application and accept these rules, terms, and conditions stated in the Community Garden Agreement for the participation in the Fort Road Community Garden.

I agree to mail my $35 plot registration fee to 882 West 7th Street, Suite 6, St. Paul, MN 55102 or to drop it off at the Federation office. I understand that my plot will not be confirmed for me until paid.

If you're dropping off materials at the Federation office, it's on the second floor of the building, above Rose Street Cafe. If the office is closed, you can put your contract and/or fee under our door at the end of the hallway.
