Athens Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service 2020 Project Application
The Athens MLK Jr. Day of Service Steering Committee is seeking project sites for the 2020 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. Each year, hundreds of volunteers come out from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to work on community enhancement and beautification projects. Any public/private nonprofit organization, healthcare organization, school, or other public organization in the Athens-Clarke County area is eligible to host a project site for the 2020 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service. All projects must identify their own project leader, but the Athens MLK Day of Service Steering Committee will handle volunteer registration.

Out of eligible submissions, priority will be given to projects that can hold a large amount of volunteers and that plan for sustainability and long-term use for the benefits of Athens-Clarke County citizens. The committee is looking for hands-on, meaningful projects that make a tangible impact on our community. Examples of past projects include: large scale daffodil plantings along the Loop 10, garden workdays, cemetery clean-ups, invasive species removal, painting projects, trail clearing and beautification.

Project applications are due by Friday, November 1 at 5:00 p.m.
