House geckos feeding on non-insect food
I am conducting a survey to get a better understanding of the opportunistic feeding behaviour of house geckos. House geckos are mostly considered insectivorous but sometimes they also feed on other foods. I am particularly interested in invasive geckos species from the genus Hemidactylus but observations of other species are welcome too.
Please fill in this form if you have ever observed a gecko feeding inside a building on a different location than a window or near a light? If you have observed various species or you have observed a single species at multiple locations, then you can fill out the form several times.
The survey consists of four short questions. The first three questions are about the actual observation (where, what, who) and the last question about the location.
With kind regards,
1. Where did the gecko feed?
In a garbage bin
On a table
On dirty dishes
2. What did the gecko consume?
Insects or other invertebrates
Fruit or Vegetables
3. What species did you observe feeding on the non-insect food items?
Asian house gecko (Hemidactylus frenatus)
Mediterranean house gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus)
Tropical house gecko (Hemidactylus mabouia)
Flat-tailed house gecko (Hemidactylus platyurus)
Brooke's house gecko (Hemidactylus brookii)
Indo-Pacific gecko (Hemidactylus garnotii)
Other unknown Hemidactylus species
Not sure what species
