WORKSHOP INFORMATION

The recent presidential election and related concerns has made things very tense.  We will begin to explore the tools of nonviolence: What does it mean, how is it used, and how can good-hearted, well-intentioned individuals foster community and safety for one another? 

This workshop will cover what you can do in your communities to minimize the risk of violence  (What MPT refers to as offering a Peaceful Presence).  This training will help you learn an effective role to have as a loving community member.

Our emphasis will be on effective communication and Bystander Intervention:

  • What to do when you see someone being harassed?  
  • What do you do when the someone being harassed is YOU?
  • How can the mere presence of a trained Meta Peace Team member at an event or activity help establish peace and nonviolence?

SCHEDULE:
Prompt Start time: 1pm Eastern Time / 10am Pacific Time
Break at approximately Noon Pacific or 3pm Eastern (30 mins) for time away from the screen


*  NOTE:  This is not the training you need to be on an official Meta Peace Team.  Formal MPT Peace Team members require more training.  Please contact MPT at MHanna@metapeaceteam.org if you are interested in the full training, which prepares you to be a Peace Team member.
