As a young pilot, you spent many an afternoon flying the canyons of Daymar, perfecting the narrowest of passes against the canyon wall. As a child, you spent your down-time taking apart engines, quantum drives, and coolers just to learn how they tick.

Growing up on a mining world, the mining laser is your best friend. With lapse labor laws, you spent your childhood deep in the caves, looking for precious metals like Laranite and Hadonite, being paid a mere pittance for your hard work.

As a child of farmers, you spent your time tending to the hydroponic fields in your family’s biodome, learning the fine art of a green thumb.

Growing up a slum kid, you quickly were taken in by a local gang, who had you working the streets in the hopes of some easy credits. You learned to shoot by the age of 5, getting your first kill by the age of 7.

Being the kid of an UEE Naval officer did have its perks. Traveling around the empire, seeing the various sights and meeting new people and exploring strange worlds. Never staying in one spot made it hard to make any lasting friendships, but you grew up with a sense of duty and selfless service to the Empire.

As you entered into your teenage years, your life was shaped in the most remarkable way: *

Once, while you were in M&K in Lorville, you tried to hustle someone into a game of top-credit pool. Turns out you tried to hustle an Admiral and Hurston Security has currently deemed you persona non grata. It would probably be wise not to show your face on Hurston for the foreseeable future.

You happened to get an internship on the UEE-Poseidon, using the Endeavor’s deep-space telescope array to observe the wonders of the universe. The universe is vast and your knowledge of it hasn’t even reached its apex yet, with so much more to discover.

Your talent for music landed you a gig as a pianist on the Xi’an Ambassador’s Constellation Phoenix. Mingling with the elites of the Diplomatic Corps.

You make a name for yourself on the local racing circuit, earning enough credits to buy your own MISC Razor when you turn 18. The speed, the hairpin turns, the rush of blasting past your competition at Mach 3. You have a need, a need for speed.

You spent your life working the mines for Shubin. Most people don’t know their Tungsten from their Boron, but not you. You can spot good mining locations kilometers away. Your grandparents were miners, your parents were miners, and gosh-darn it, you’re going to be a miner too!

There is truly nothing like running through a biodome field of space potatoes. You’re one with nature when you are covered in the dirt and dust of an alien world from working the fields all day.

Being a bookworm and your other adventures growing up have set you on your path to explore the known universe. You crave to see exotic lands. Search for hidden treasures in ancient ruins, or solve the mysteries of past civilizations while you look for yourself. Adventure awaits!

At ease, cadet. You’re off on the adventure of a lifetime that only most Citizens of the Empire get to partake in. Fight for humanity against the hordes of Vanduul. Protect your fellow citizens from pirate raiders. Ensure the safety of the empire from those who wish to split it apart.

Yar! Time to grab a hold of some booty! Man the turrets! Grab your guns! Prepare for boarding actions! You’ve got a Jolly Roger and it’s looking for some loot to scoot.

Bitch, don’t you know this is my turf? You’ve got the skills to survive the slum wars, now it’s time to get the hell out of the undercity and work for some other fucks in the verse. They may not all like ya, but they’ll respect the hell outta ya when they find your LH86 pistol against their temple.

Why join the Navy when you can hang out with them after they all left the service but didn’t want to give up their guns? Being a merc is all the fun of military service, without the pesky loyalty thing getting in the way.

You need to start fresh, to give up on your past life and find something more worthwhile. You can’t go back to the life you led. It’s too painful.

Gather your minions, your henchmen, your rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, Tevarin agents, Xi’an bandits, muggers, buggerers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, Merchantman thieves, Hull robbers, MAX robbers, ass-kickers, shit-kickers and…Methodists. In time, they will learn to fear you.

I’m just someone trying to make it in the ‘Verse. I want to make it out there. Where someone knows my name and the deeds I’ve done, both good and bad. A legacy to pass on to my heirs.

I’ve struggled to survive my whole life. I just want to survive for the rest. I may not make it but dammit, I’m going to try. I’ll show those assholes at the orphanage who’s weak now!
