SBAP Instructor - 2018 Application

POSITIONS: SBAP is ONLY hiring artists who have experience in Ceramics & Pottery or Fashion Design-Sewing. Applicants should live in the City of Saint Louis.

POTTERY INSTRUCTOR
(1) The Pottery Instructor position is every Saturday 9:30-4:30 and rotating evening classes on Thursday, Friday, or Saturdays as well as Sunday mornings and afternoons.
(2) This is a minimum 1-2 year commitment. Position begins August-September 2018
(3) Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in the field of Ceramics and Pottery and or additional years of experience in the field.
(4) Applicants should have a strong background in Pottery Wheel Throwing as well as hand-building
(5) Applicants should have a vast knowledge of how to glaze, load, and fire kilns. As well as a knowledge of various surface applications and techniques.
(6) Applicants should have some skills navigating iPad, gmail, as well as some basic knowledge of google docs and word processing programs.
(7) Applicants should have prior teaching experience and or leading groups.
(8) Volunteer Work and Community Service experience is an added bonus.
(9) Applicants should also have some flexability in schedule to work around kiln firing schedules if needed occasionally etc.
(10) Applicants should be comfortable teaching students of all ages, especially teens.
(11) Optional Requirement - If applicant is qualified to teach ceramics and pottery, the position could be expanded etc.
(12) Compensation - $12-$15 an hour and contracted class rate for some activities.

FASHION DESIGN INSTRUCTOR
(1) This position is Thursday Evenings 6-9pm. Additional hours are added as needed on a weekly basis
(2)Applicant should be comfortable teaching and working with students of all ages, especially teens.
(3)Prior teaching experience is an highly recommended.
(4) Applicant should have a background in art, sewing, and or fashion design.
(5) Applicant should be comfortable multi-tasking in the sewing studio.
(6) Applicant should be comfortable taking on new tasks.
(7) Compensation for this position may vary depending on qualifications.
(8) Optional Requirement - If applicant is qualified to teach ceramics and pottery, the position could be expanded etc.
