University of St Mark & St John, Inspiring Student Awards Nomination Form 2017

Don’t miss your chance to tell us about students from the University of St Mark & St John who have made a positive difference within the University and/or the local community; nominate them now for one of the Inspiring Students Awards of the Year 2017 categories.

Short listed nominees will be invited to an awards ceremony on Wednesday 10th May, where winners and runners-up will be announced.

Who can nominate?
We welcome submissions from external organisations, Marjon staff and students who want to nominate a current Marjon Student. However you cannot nominate yourself for an award.

You can nominate current students for any award as long as the nominee meets the award criteria listed.

Can I nominate someone for more than one award? - Yes, however if you are nominating for more than one award, you will need to submit a separate nomination. Only one category per submission.

If only one person has been nominated for an award, the panel reserves the right to decide whether the nominee is a worthy contender for the award. If no nominations are received for an award, then the award will not be given.

    Community Volunteer of the Year Category

    Will be given to someone who stands out as a personality within the local community through volunteering activities. This award will be based on the following considerations and criteria: • Someone who has a positive can do attitude • Actively engages and has made a positive difference within the local community and beyond • Someone who is supportive, inclusive and friendly • A positive role model

    Outstanding Contribution Award Category

    Will be awarded to an individual who has shown great dedication and commitment over and above expectation. This award will be based on the following considerations and criteria: • Someone who has a positive attitude • Has actively engaged with Marjon and the community • Demonstrated enthusiasm and showed initiative • Progressed their role • An aspirational role model for Marjon

    Leadership Award Category

    Will be awarded to an individual who has shown great leadership skills within Marjon or the wider community. This award will be based on the following considerations and criteria: • Someone who has taken a lead within a committee/led their own project/shown leadership during activities • Team player • Takes part in volunteering or Marjon events or fundraising activities etc • Someone who is supportive, inclusive and friendly and has a positive attitude

    Sports Volunteer of the Year Category

    Will be awarded to an individual who has shown great dedication to a sporting team at Marjon or in the wider community. This award will be based on the following considerations and criteria: • The huge contribution a volunteer made to a sporting team or wider community • Team player • Demonstrated dedication and hard work • Someone who is supportive, inclusive, approachable and reliable • Someone who has shown enthusiasm to progress their role • A positive role model whose is friendly and is a positive representative for Marjon

    Enterprise Award Category

    Will be awarded to an individual who has shown great dedication to starting up their own business or social enterprise. This award will be based on the following considerations and criteria: • Having a unique enterprise idea • Showed innovation, motivation, leadership, organization skills and entrepreneurial flair • Showed progress though business planning, marketing, funding applications/ financial backing, clients networks, annual turnover • Good communication skills/ networking • Shows a willingness to succeed whilst also studying at University

    University Volunteer of the Year Category

    Will be awarded to a student who has positively contributed to volunteering within Marjon over the academic year. This award will be based on the following considerations and criteria: • Someone who has had a positive attitude throughout the year • Someone who has made a difference to the university community • Keen to always get involved and present ideas • Reliable • Highly motivated individual

    Grace Adamson Outstanding Student Ambassador Award Category

    Will be given to someone who has been inspirational in their role as a student ambassador when working on Marjon activities. This award will be based on the following considerations and criteria: • Someone inspirational! • Has made the most of opportunities afforded to them through the Marjon student ambassador scheme, working across the college and reflecting the values of Marjon • Someone who is dynamic, supportive, inclusive and enthusiastic • A positive ambassador for the institution they represent
