Behavioral Economics in Local Policy 2016-2017

Please complete the following form to submit project ideas for using behavioral insights to address challenges faced by local governments. From these submissions, a limited number of projects will be selected for this academic year.

Each project team will consist of two masters level students (predominantly Public Policy Students), representatives from the relevant department, and a Center for Advanced Hindsight advisor. All projects will be overseen by Mariel Beasley and Ryan Smith.

Over the course of the fall semester, each team will define a behavior challenge relevant to the department, diagnose the related behavior and identify key barriers and points of leverage, brainstorm solutions based on evidence from the behavioral sciences, and, where possible, design a pilot/test of one of those solutions to be conducted in the spring.

Each town, city, and/or county are encouraged to submit multiple proposals. Proposals will be evaluated on project team fit, commitment by the department, and willingness and ability to test.

If you have any questions, please contact Mariel Beasley at mariel.beasley@duke.edu or 919-949-9159.

All proposals must be submitted by Friday, August 26th.
