WeDo BUILD AND PROGRAM
Our club will use the LEGO® WeDo set and activity pack and is an excellent way to introduce young builders to building and programming concepts while building teamwork and communication skills. Activities will build upon each other and we will continue to advance through a variety of robotic systems. Emphasis will be made on teamwork, gracious professionalism, project planning, presentation, science and technology skills. This class is an excellent bridge from WeDo to the EV3 Robotics program, giving students the basic building skills and real world engineering designs needed to flourish in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM).
Elementary students will work with simple machines: levers, pulleys, gears and transmission of motion using observation, prediction, reasoning, and critical thinking. They will continue to build upon their learning to build a team robot suitable for various competitions. Some previous experience is recommended for students in 2nd through 4th grade. This club is intended as preparation for students interested in robotics competitions such as FIRST LEGO League Junior, RoboGames or Tech Challenge. Parents will be invited to view various game activities and attend competitions and are welcome to attend meetings. Club size is limited. Sign up quickly to reserve your space.
