Acudetox, is a community-rooted approach to healing that emerged in the early 1970s through collaborative organizing between the Black Panther Party and the Young Lords. Developed in response to the urgent need for accessible, culturally grounded care, this model was created to support communities experiencing stress, trauma, substance use challenges, and systemic harm. Today, it continues to be used worldwide as a simple, effective practice for collective healing and solidarity.
Acudetox is a five-point ear acupuncture protocol designed to help regulate the nervous system, calm emotional distress, and restore balance in the body. During a session, up to five small, sterilized, single-use needles—or alternatively, 2–3 ear seed bead stickers—are gently placed at specific points on each ear. These points correspond with cranial nerve pathways that influence the body’s stress response, supporting relaxation and internal regulation.
When combined with nervous-system-supportive herbal teas, Acu-Wellness can further encourage rest, digestion, and grounding.
Participants commonly report:
- Increased calmness and improved sleep
- Reduced stress, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm
- Greater ease engaging in counseling or support services
- A renewed sense of inner quiet, clarity, and strength
For this session we will only be learning about acupressure and practice/experience the use of auricular(ear) seed bead stickers.
Join us for an evening of collective care.
Things to bring to help you be more comfortable:
-- a camp chair or blanket to sit on,
-- One pair of tweezers to help you handle ear seed stickers before placing them on the ear points.
-- a snack to share with the group if you’d like
We will provide seed bead stickers at no cost and a nervous system supportive refreshing tea!
